A PRAYER IN TIMES OF LONELINESS
Heavenly Father,
there are those that ache with loneliness. The silence of
their empty homes screams out through their eyes. The phone doesn't ring.
The mailbox is empty. They feel detached and abandoned by those closest to
them. Does anyone care?
Father, when these hollow pangs of loneliness strike, remind
them that they are not ever truly alone. You have promised to be
their constant companion -- always accessible with never a goodbye. Thank you for the example of
Your Son, who often withdrew
to lonely places to spend time with You.
Restrain them from filling the voids in
their lives with anything but You. May Your everlasting presence occupy the empty places in
their hearts. Transform the seasons of loneliness into treasured times of fellowship with
You.
Lord, thank you for being
our forever, everlasting friend.
