Speaking the Right Words

"For by thy words thou shalt be justified,

and by thy words shalt be condemned."

Matthew 12:37

Dear Father, in Jesus' name, I pray that You would help me to be mindful of the words I speak as I go about my day.  Your Word says that by my words I am justified and by my words I am condemned.  Help me to put a guard over my mouth.  If I say something that i should not, please bring it to my attention so I may correct it.

I choose to walk in love and not react in anger.  Help me to think before I speak words that i would later regret.  I choose to not gossip, criticize, condemn, or complain but only to speak wo5rds that encourage, uplift, and inspire others.

I understand that my words affect those who hear them.  Help me to be thoughtful to choose the right words to express myself so that I may clearly communicate with others in a positive, inoffensive, way.

I put Your Word in my mouth, and I speak Your promises over my life and the lives of other throughout the day.  Speak through me today.  Let Your words be my words.  Help me to be sensitive to the needs of others, to be quick to speak words of comfort, peace, and kindness to them.  May my words minister grace and mercy to all who hear them.  Let me speak words that bring honor and glory to Your name.

In Jesus' name I pray, Amen

"Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved,

bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness o mind,

meekness, longsuffering; forbearing one another,

and forgiving one another,

if any man have a quarrel against any:

even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.

And above all these things put on charity,

which is the bond of perfectness."

Colossians 3:12-14
