Prayers . . . while I'm waiting

PRAYER IN THE MIDST OF AN ENDANGERED PREGNANCY

O merciful Father, have pity on me.  I don't understand why you have allowed the life of my baby to be threatened.  You know how deeply I love this child, even though I can't see her.  She is alive, a tiny person -- I feel her moving inside me.  I am so afraid for her.  Save her precious life, Lord.  How can I endure this?  Teach me how to trust you.  Help me submit to your will.

I want to protect her, but I can't.  Her life is in your hands.  All I can do is lie here in bed, trying not to move, trying to relax.  The doctors tell me they are helpless to save her.  All we can do is wait, and you know, Lord, I've never been very good a waiting.  Give me patience.  Help me to focus my thoughts on you, knowing you love her even more than I do.

I determine to have faith in you.  I choose to believe you can spare her and bring her into this world as a beautiful, healthy baby.  I believe you have great plans for her life.  I believe she will grow into a godly woman who will love you fervently and will serve you diligently.  I believe her life will bless many people.

Still, if you love her so much you want her to live in heaven with you now, Lord, I trust you about that.  I give her to you.  I want whatever is best or her, and I know that's what you will do.  Help me to confidently rest in that.  Thank you for your love, Lord.

Amen

And we know that in all things

God works for the good of those who love him,

who have been called according to his purpose.
