Prayer for the Family of a Murdered Child

Abba Father, I groan in agony and grief with the family of this precious murdered child.  What kind of grotesque bring perpetrates this kind of evil?  I scream against him!  I want this demon caught and punished; I want him rendered helpless, unable to kill again.

Help me, Lord, to quiet my churning emotions and to turn all revenge over to the authorities, thankful you have appointed them to exact justice.  I ask you to enable the family to turn their burning desire for retribution over to you, knowing that is the first step toward forgiveness -- probably the only one they can take right no.  Give them confidence you will repay this man for his atrocities.  Assure them you don't ever want them to excuse his malevolent actions, just to lay their hatred at your feet so it won't tear at their spirits and destroy them.

Help them welcome the deep grief instead of shutting themselves off from it, because it stand as a testimony to the immeasurable value of their darling child. Walk through sorrow with them, comfort them, and heal them.  Assure them that because you lived in their child's heart and they love you, too, they will see their beloved once again in heaven.  Let that glorious hope fill them with comfort.

In Jesus' name I pray,

Amen

"It is mine to avenge, I will repay," says the Lord.
