Prayers . . . on endings

OH GOD, MY PARENT IS DYING

Heavenly Father, I need your help.  Mother is dying and I must go be with her.  Don't let her die before I have time to get to her side.  We need one last time to talk, to hold each other, and to say goodbye before she is gone.  Lord, I feel so anxious; so inadequate.  I'm afraid that I won't be able to cope with this difficult situation.  Help me know what to do, Lord.  Go with me.  Cause me to be all I should be for Mom and the rest of the family.

Sit beside Mom as she lies in the hospital bed, Lord.  Be with her when she is in pain and discomfort.  Quiet her restlessness.  Surround her with compassionate nurses and doctors who will be able to make her comfortable.  Don't let her suffer.

Lord, Mother hasn't shared with me whether she is ready to die.  I want to talk with her about her soul, but I don't quite know how.  Go before me; prepare her heart.  Give me Bible verses to share that will help her understand your plan for her life.  Show her through your Word that you died for her sins.  Help us pray together, asking you to forgive her sin and take her to heaven when she dies.  Then we will be together again someday.  Help me let her go.

Thank you, Lord.  I can do all things as you give me the strength.

 Amen.

"I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and

believes him who sent me

has eternal life and will not be condemned;

he has crossed over from death to life."

John 5:24
