Prayers . . . on longing for peace

HELP ME BE SURE I'LL GO TO HEAVEN

O Lord God,  what will happen to me when I die?  I believe in heaven and hell, and I know I don't want to go to hell.  I try really hard to do good things, but I'm afraid I haven't done enough to get me into heaven.  I've heard I can't get there by being good anyway, and just thinking about that terrifies me.

People tell me you don't want anyone to go to hell; you want everyone to spend eternity with you in heaven.  They tell me the Bible says you sent your Son to die for me so my sins can be forgiven and I can go to heaven.  It's hard to believe you would do that for me, Lord.

Still, I choose to believe.  I choose to believe your Son died for me.  I ask you to forgive my sins and change me.  Make me like you.  I choose to believe that I belong to you, and I choose to believe that you want everyone who belongs to you to live in your home in heaven after they die.  Thank you, Lord.
