Prayers . . . for life threatening problems

Help a Person Threatening Suicide

Abba Father, I understand this one threatening suicide.  I've been through times of hopelessness when the enemy tricked me into wondering if death might be a welcome escape.  But I know it isn't, Lord.  Show this depressed person that though life is difficult for everyone, you are with us all and will help to get through this.  You can use hard times to shape someone into your image.  Beckon this person to sink into your arms and soak up your comfort.

Lord, if a chemical problem is causing this person to think bizarre, sad thoughts, direct them to a doctor who understands an can help with medicine.  If their thoughts are confused because they have made wrong choices or view life through a skewed lens, bring a pastor or counselor with wisdom across their path.

If their troubles are actually unendurable, help them lift their eyes to you and remember you never give us more than we can handle.  You will provide a way of escape; you will offer relief.  Bring friends around who know how to comfort and support them an won't ignore cries for help.  Give this person extra strength to get through this.

Then remind them that tomorrow will be brighter.  In Jesus' name.

Amen

"I lift my eyes to the hills -- where does my help come from?

My help comes from the Lord,

the Maker of heaven and earth."

Psalm 121:1-2
