Congress

 

 

"The eyes of your understanding being enlightened;

that ye may know what is the hope of his calling,

and what the riches of the glory of his

inheritance in the saints."

 

Ephesians 1:18

 

Dear Father, I come to You in the mighty name of Jesus, thanking You and praising You for our great nation.  I thank You for the plan You gave to our forefathers to govern our nation and to divide the powers so that our destiny would not rest in the hands of one person.

Because Your Word calls me to pray for those in authority, I life up our Congress -- both the House of representatives and the Senate.  I pray that by Your power, our federal legislative body would make laws that are just.

Father, I ask You to give them wisdom to make decisions that would strengthen and prosper our nation.  Enlighten them with Your truth so that they make right decisions concerning the politics, the social welfare, and the economics of our nation.

Help the members of Congress to put aside personal and partisan agendas and to work together with others for the good of our nation.  Help them to work with the president so together they can introduce and pass legislation that strengthens our nation and supports the godly values of our society.

I pray for revival in Congress.  Draw the representatives of our United States close to You, Lord.  Give those who know You the courage to vote their convictions and to be bold witnesses for You to others.  For those who don't have a personal relationship with You, I pray that the eyes of their understanding would be opened and their hearts turned toward You.  In Jesus' name I pray.
